Paul F. Shockey, 67, of Leavenworth died Friday, July 15, 2005 at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Veterans Administration Hospital in Leavenworth . He was born July 24, 1937 in Atchison , KS the son of Frank and Gladys Jenkins Shockey.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy . He was employed for thirty-three years at Graham Trucking in Leavenworth , retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #41, and the VFW.
His life was filled with joy when watching his children play sports in their younger years, and equally enjoyed his grandchildren everyday. He loved working on cars, bowling and playing golf. He married Joan Ramey (LHS Class of 1957) on December 15, 1956 in Leavenworth . She survives at the couples home. He is further survived by two daughters Jodi (Jim) Slapper, Paula (Bryce) Johnson and a very special daughter Brenda Pierce all of Leavenworth . Two sons Jim (Sharie) Shockey, Leavenworth and Paul David Shockey, Kansas City , KS . Six grandchildren Josh, Tavi, Brent, Alyssa, Breanne and Heath. Two great-grandchildren Jenna and Connor. One brother Louie Shockey, Atchison , KS . Five sisters Betty Nelson, Midland, Texas , Bessie Simpson, Rosemary Shockey Cornforth (LHS Clas of 1948) and Dee Shockey Simpson (LHS Class of 1949) all of Leavenworth , Marge Shockey Baker (LHS Class of 1952) of Colorado . He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Bill, Jim and Jack Shockey and one sister Loretta.
Friends may call at the R. L. Leintz Funeral Home from 6-7:00 PM Wednesday when there will be a Memorial Service at 7:00 officiated by Pastor Dave Treat. Inurnment will follow at a later date at the Leavenworth National Cemetery . Memorials are requested to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
