Jacqueline J. Day, 73, of Leavenworth, passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.
Jackie was born Dec. 18, 1934, in East Leavenworth, Mo., the daughter of Andrew and Pearl Moppin Garner.
On April 30, 1955 she married Lloyd P. "Tony" Day (LHS Class of 1952). He preceded her in death.
She graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1952 and retired from Fort Leavenworth.
Volunteering at the Leavenworth Assistance Center was an important aspect of her life and she was devoted to family and friends.
Jackie is survived by three daughters, Kimmerle Sales (Vance) Washington, D.C., Toni Edmonds (Kent) Easton, Kan., Jodi Massanet (John) Manhattan, Kan.; two sons, Andrew Day Easton, Kan., Matthew Day (Deb) Leavenworth, Kan.; one brother, Michael Garner; one sister, JoAnn Price (LHS Class of 1955); five grandchildren Wil, Keith, Mari Jo, Allie and Katy.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008 at the Davis Funeral Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008 at the St. Joseph of the Valley Church. Burial will follow in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Joseph of the Valley Altar Society.
