Phyllis Ann Mitchell, 74 of Houston, Texas, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010 at home in Houston, surrounded by her family. She was born to Benjamin and Dorthy Fellmann Moore on February 3, 1936. She grew up in Leavenworth and attended Catholic and public schools. She and her husband Wade moved to Houston, Texas in 1973.She was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother to her children and granddaughter Mia.
She married Wade W. Mitchell of Tonganoxie in 1960. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Christopher Mitchell, daughter in law Joan, daughter Heather Ann Arndt, son in law Darren and granddaughter Mia Lauren, as well as her devoted pet and constant companion Gracie Ann.
Also surviving are her siblings, Michael Moore (LHS class of 1957) (Barbara Ann), Barbara Schlonga (LHS Class of 1952), her twin sister, Patricia Simpson (LHS Class of 1954) (Allan) and Kathleen Vaughn (LHS Class of 1958) (Wendall).
Phyllis and her husband were a cool aunt and uncle and had great influence in the lives of their many nieces and nephews. She was greatly loved and always known as Aunt Boo and then Granny Boo.
Mass of Christian burial will be Friday at St. Josephs Catholic Church with Fr Chris Kulig, O.Carm as celebrant. Visitation with the family present will be at Belden – Larkin Funeral home Thursday 6-8 PM.
