David Windsor Chapman, 75, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010 in Tallahassee, Florida. He was born September 21, 1934, in Leavenworth, Kansas.
David worked for the Department of the Army, Civil Service, at the Command General Staff College, Leavenworth, Kansas, from 1953 to 1997. He served in the Kansas National Guard from 1953 to 1956. Following retirement in 1997, he moved to Panacea, Florida, where he was a member of First Baptist Church of Panacea.
He is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Anna (DeRidder) Chapman and an infant son, Dane.
David is survived by his wife of 36 years, Bernice Chapman. Two sons; David W. Chapman, Jr. (Marcia), Topeka, Kansas and Dean Chapman (Nahed), St. Charles, Missouri. Two stepsons; Craig Consani (Cindy), Tipp City, Ohio and Dr. Keith Consani, Germantown, Maryland. One stepdaughter; Anita Hellens (Paul), Milford, Michigan. One brother, Edward Y. "Chappie" Chapman (Lois) (LHS Class of 1950) of Leavenworth, Kansas. Grandchildren; Dane Chapman, Port Orchard, Washington, Nur Chapman and Nadr Chapman, Pensacola, Florida. Four step-grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many loving friends.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Panacea.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Panacea, 38 Otter Lake Road, Panacea, Florida 32346.
Bevis Funeral Home, Harvey-Young Chapel, Crawfordville, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
