Mary Jo Farris

Mary Jo Farris, a former resident of Leavenworth, Kansas passed away at NKC Hospital Hospice unit on July 27, 2012, surrounded by family. She was born in Leavenworth to Earl Benton and Elizabeth Harris on August 26, 1932. Mary Jo is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ted Farris (LHS Class of 1953), her brother Earl and Kay Harris, three children Pamela and Frank Gmatus of KCK, Christopher L. and Sheryl Theiss of KCMO, and Terry L. and Marilyn Theiss of Piper, KS. She also had 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Mary Jo worked as a beautician in Leavenworth for 11 years and J.C. Penney Sales for 9 years where she retired in 1995. A Memorial Service will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel, in Leavenworth, KS on Wednesday August 1st, 2012 beginning with a visitation at 9:30 am, service at 10:15am, and interment at Mount Muncie Cemetery at 11:00am with Pastor John Bryden of Maywood Community Church. Lunch will be served at Maywood Community Church, 11201 Parallel Parkway in Kansas City, KS after interment. Memorials may go to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation.
