Robert Hamilton

Robert Llewellyn Hamilton, 86, formerly of Leavenworth, Kansas passed away peacefully in Sun City West, Arizona on October 20th, 2014 after a long battle with cancer.
Robert was born April 23, 1928, and was the son of Hazel and Frank Hamilton in Leavenworth, Kansas.
He graduated from Leavenworth High School, Leavenworth, Kansas in 1946.
He joined the US Air Force in 1950 where he was assigned to the 417th Fighter Bomber Squadron with duty in Texas, Germany and Tripoli. Before entering the service he worked for Goodjohn Door & Sash Company in Leavenworth.
Robert retired from Civil Service at Fort Leavenworth as the Chief of the Logistics Division in 1984. After that he worked for the City of Leavenworth and in computer sales specializing in Apple Computers before finally retiring in 1991.
In retirement he was active in his high school class gatherings and the computer club.
Robert married Audrey (AJ) Vaughn on November 26, 1976 and became a special step-dad to Pat and Mike, who he loved very much and whom he was so proud.
At the end of his life he appreciated the love and support of his sister and brother in law Suzanne and Irving Rosenberg. 
He is survived by his wife Audrey (AJ), his two much loved step children, Pat Maggard (Ken) and Mike Vaughn (Cathy), his cherished granddaughter Kristen Hix (Lucas) and his soon to be born great granddaughter Kaia as well as his sisters, Jean Stratemeyer (LHS Class of 1949), Gail Klotz (Phil)(LHS Class of 1951), Barbara Aldridge (Albert)(LHS Class of 1952) and many nieces and nephews. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, his nephew Albert Aldridge Jr and his brother in law Herb Stratemeyer.
All friends and family are invited to the Military Service, 10:30am -Tuesday October 28 at the National Cemetery of Arizona - 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Valley (https://www.hov.org/donate-now). The family wants to thank the staff at Sante’ of Surprise Rehab Center and Orchard Point staffs for caring for Robert and Hospice of the Valley for their special care the last few days of his life.
