Lawrence Schlonga

Lawrence L. Schlonga, 92, Easton, Kansas passed away Thursday, July 8, 2015 at Country Care in Easton, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary Lee Faber Schlonga (LHS Class of 1952). He owned and operated K & L Body Shop in Leavenworth, Kansas. After his retirement he loved to farm, raise cows and go to the Casinos. He leaves behind Terry and Jim Bogner, Tana Mayhugh, Keith and Paula Schlonga, Henry Schlonga, Cheryl Myers, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 P.M Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 11, 2015 at St. Casimir Church. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Lansing, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Casimir Church. Arrangements entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel. Mary Lee Schlonga, 78, of Easton, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at her home. She was born Oct. 27, 1933, in Leavenworth, the daughter of Henry and Minnie (Fitch) Faber.
She graduated from Leavenworth High School. On Sept. 20, 1952, she married Lawrence L. Schlonga at St. Joseph Church in Leavenworth. He survives at the home. She is also survived by her two daughters, Terry Lynn (Jim) Bogner and Tana Marie (Don) Mayhugh; her two sons, Keith (Paula) Schlonga and Henry (Cheryl Myers) Schlonga; her grandchildren, Jason Bogner, Justin Bogner, Kyle Doelz, Melinda Schlonga, Megan Schlonga, Dana Schlonga and Jennifer Johnson; her great-grandchildren, Lyla, Lydia, Nathan, Alexis, Christian, Noah, Kalub and Carson; and three nieces, Judy Curnutt, Jackie Burd and Christine Holman. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dolores Phillips (LHS Class of 1948).
Shortly after she married Lawrence they moved to California where they lived for 13 years before returning to Leavenworth in 1968. Mary worked side-by-side with her husband Lawrence keeping the books for their businesses, Coffey Wrecker Service, K&L Auto Body Shop and they owned and maintained rental properties. She was a long-time member of the Leavenworth Chapter of TOPS and looked forward to their weekly meetings. Her family especially looked forward to her homemade noodles.  She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Casimir Church with Rev. Phillip Winkelbauer as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
