Brees Millard - LHS Class of 1959

Brees R. Millard, Jr., 75, of Leavenworth, entered eternal life on Sunday, September 27, 2015 following a courageous battle with lung cancer. 
Brees "Butch" Millard, was born in Leavenworth the son of Brees R. and Dorothy (Porter) Millard, Sr. 
He is survived by his brothers, Larry (Barbara Stames) Millard (LHS Class of 1961), of Plano, Texas and Jerry "Bud" (Gloria) Millard (LHS Class of 1959), of Lakewood, Colorado. 
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Lawrence Stanley Millard, Sr. (LHS Class of 1964)
Brees was a graduate of Pittsburg State, graduating in August 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History with a minor in Business Administration. He worked for Sinclair Oil Corporation in Oklahoma City, OK following graduation until he returned to Leavenworth due to an automobile accident in March of 1977. 
Brees then began a banking career at Citizens Savings and Loan in October 1979 until retiring in December of 2010, achieving the designation of Mortgage Loan Manager. He was instrumental with the development of the mortgage real estate lending department. 
He was respected by his coworkers and affiliates working in the industry as well as clients that he worked with during his 31 years of service. During his tenure at the bank, he was regarded as a mentor, brother and father figure to many of his Citizens Savings family. 
Brees was very dedicated to his entire family but especially to his parents. 
When he was not at work he enjoyed watching KU Jayhawk basketball and KC Royals baseball. 
A visitation will be held at 10 AM to 12 PM, Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee, Leavenworth, KS followed by a memorial service at 12 PM in the chapel with Reverend Jimmy Porter, cousin of Brees, officiating.  A private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Jake Walkup Memorial Scholarship fund or to St. Jude's Children's Research in care of Davis Funeral Chapel.
