Carl Frederick Decarsky, 73, of Leavenworth, Kan., passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, surrounded by loved ones in his home.
He was born Dec. 24, 1941, in Leavenworth, where he lived for most of his life.
Carlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Inez (Jenrick) Decarsky, his brother, Jimmy Decarsky, his sister Margaret Decarsky Tuttle and his wife of 47 years, Pat (Workman) Decarsky (LHS Class of 1965).
He is survived by his wife of seven years, Rita (Tomlin) Decarsky; his three children, Brian Decarsky of Boston, Mass., Shelly Beckham (Todd) of Rose Hill, Kan. and Shannon Webb of Rose Hill, Kan., his brother, Charlie Decarsky (LHS Class of 1957) of Kansas City, Mo., and his sister Charlene (Decarsky) Joyce of Bloomfield, Ind.
Carlie was known as “Papa” to his six grandchildren, Drew, Ashley, Cassidy, Chance, Chace, and Parker- and his great grandchild, Maci (Mutt).
After graduating from Leavenworth High School, Carlie served four years in the United States Army. He retired from Geiger Ready Mix after 40 years dedicated service to living up to the core values of on time and hustle, honesty and integrity and the Geiger Way!
Carlie was a passionate man who enjoyed life. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In his spare time, He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, playing cards, watching sports and spending quality time with family and friends.
He was a humble man!
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p. m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home (4701 10th Ave. in Leavenworth). Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept.19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (521 Lynn St. in Leavenworth). Private burial with military honors will follow at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Leavenworth Public Schools Education Foundation.
