Leon Findeisen

Leon and Elizabeth Siener Findeisen (LHS Class of 1955)

Jesus took Leon Findeisen, 81, of Leavenworth, to Heaven on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016. He was born May 29, 1935, in Holland, Texas, the son of Alfred and Leona (Poldtrack) Findeisen.
He joined the United States Army in 1954, where he was stationed in Fort Leavenworth and met the love of his life, Elizabeth Siener.
On Aug. 25, 1956, Leon married Elizabeth Siener at St. Paul Lutheran Church. She survives at the home. He is also survived by a daughter, LeAnn (John Zappa) Glover; a son, Neal (Lisa) Findeisen; six grandchildren, Echo, Chris, Logan, Colton, Karisa and Leah; and four great-grandchildren, Ian, Daniel, William and Jaden.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Deborah Jaster.
He retired from the United States Penitentiary and opened Leon’s small appliance. In 1971, he started L & R Refrigeration where he worked until retiring in 2004, and selling his business to his son Neal, who still owns and operates it.
Leon was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting. He also loved country music.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, at the church, with Rev. Damien Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Muncie Cemetery. Memorials to St. Luke’s Hospice of Leavenworth are suggested.
