He retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons in 1980. Following that he worked for the Leavenworth County Council on Aging for several years. Alvan enjoyed farming throughout most of his life. He was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Alvan was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Patty Floray Greenhagen (LHS Class of 1950), and his wife, Norma. He is survived by his children, Constance Floray, Branson, Missouri; David Floray, Leavenworth; and Linda Floray Godsil (Michael), Lansing, as well as one grandson, Russell Buchanan, Mission, Kansas. He is also survived by one brother, Ronald Floray, Leavenworth.
A private graveside service will be held at Mount Muncie Cemetery, Lansing, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to Calvary Baptist Church, Leavenworth, Kansas.
Together ♥♥♥ Forever
Norma Jean Floray, 82, passed away at her home on April 28, 2015. Norma was born February 13, 1933, the daughter of Samuel H. and Adell Dora (Drews) Hundley.
On March 27, 1953, she married Alvan P. Floray Jr in Kansas City, KS and together they enjoyed 62 wonderful years together. She is also survived by three children, Connie J. Floray, David P. Floray and Linda K. (Michael) Godsil and one Grandson, Russell A. Buchanan. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, sister Emily (LHS Class of 1933) and brother Orville (LHS Class of 1937).
Norma was an active and dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved to sing in the choir and various musical groups for many years.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 2, at Calvary Baptist Church, 4451 10th Ave, Leavenworth, KS. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Memorials may be given to Calvary Baptist Church.
