Katherine (Kay) A. Grady, 85, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Lansing Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 12, 1934 in Leavenworth, KS to Edward J. and Catherine E. (Navinsky) Grady and was a lifelong resident.
Kay worked at Baker’s Department Store for many years as a clerk and merchandise processor. She also worked at Gene’s Pharmacy making homemade ice cream until her retirement. Kay liked to garden and took great pride in raising and canning vegetables. She was accomplished in embroidery and cross-stitch, winning first prize at the county fair for an embroidered tablecloth. She was a member of the LCBA and the St. Joseph’s Alter Society.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Thomas J. Grady and sister Mildred M. Skahan. She is survived by her sister, Helen L. Naylon, Leavenworth, KS, nephew, James E. Skahan, Leavenworth, KS, and nieces, Patricia A. Washburn, Chantilly, VA and Mary Lou Black, Bellevue, NE.
Visitation and rosary will be from 5 to 7 pm on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at the Belden Larkin Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Leavenworth, KS on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 10:00 am, with Rev. David McEvoy, O.Carm, officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Lansing, KS.
Memorials in her name may be directed to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
