Joe Harnish, 78, of Leavenworth, passed away, Friday March 5, 2021, at Medicalodges of Leavenworth, Kansas.
After graduating high school in Easton, Kansas, Joe served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
He married Connie Davis in 1969 at Immaculate Conception Church. They owned and operated Harnish Grocery for 12 years. Joe went on to work for and retire from the Defense Commissary Agency.
They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2019. Friends and family who knew Joe knew his passion for cutting firewood, golf and hunting mushrooms.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, George and Francis Harnish, a sister, Kathleen Pryor, and a brother, Bernie Harnish.
He is survived by his loving wife, Connie; three sons, Joel Springer (Janet) of Leavenworth, David Springer (Keli), of Pelver, South Carolina, and Doug Harnish (Emily), of Prosper, Texas.; a sister, Jeannie Lawrence of Leavenworth; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren that were all a blessing to them.
Visitation beginning with praying of the rosary will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021, at R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
