Donnie Brooks - LHS Class of 1958

Donald Lee Brooks, 80, of Lansing, died Monday, June 28, 2021, at his home. “Donnie” was born Dec. 17, 1940, in Leavenworth, the son of Carl and Edna (Gunterman) Brooks.
On Dec. 17, 1971, he married Linda S. Brown.
Donnie was a man of few words, but many friends.
He worked hard and enjoyed a lifetime of experiences and family adventures. He loved golfing, bowling, hunting, playing cards and his pets. But most of all he loved the ones who knew him as “Pop”.
Donnie retired from the Graham Ship-By-Truck company after 34 years. After retirement, he worked for Linaweaver Construction Inc., Larkin Excavating Inc., and Herring Surveying Co.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers-in-law, Jerry Brown, Charlie Lowe, and Tom Jones, and sister-in-law Rita Brown.
His wife Linda survives at the home. He is also survived by his four children, Mike Brooks, Leslee (Terry) Parsons, Andy (Dawn) Brooks, Tom (Brenda) Brooks; 14 grandchildren, Shawn Hiatt, Caitlyn Brooks, Amber Brooks, Carl Brooks, Kaylee Brooks, Emma Brooks, Brady Brooks, Taylor Montgomery, Tyler Parsons, Keaton Schaffer, Ainsley Brajkovic, Mallory Brajkovic, Alexa Doolin and Isaac Doolin; five great-grandchildren, Laila, Lila, Ariya, Mylo and Ezran; and four sisters-in-law, Joyce Lowe, Nancy (Ron) Mazzia, Jean (Buck) Jones and Judy Jones.
The family would like to thank St. Luke’s Hospice and Caregiving Because We Care for their compassion.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. The funeral will take place 9:00 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2021, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Lansing. Memorials to the Parkinson’s Foundation are suggested.
