Leroy Marks, Jr. (82), of Lansing, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Health Care Facility in Leavenworth, Kansas.
Born January 13, 1931, in Leavenworth, Kansas, Leroy was the son of Leroy Marks, Sr. and Rose Dunn.
On January 13, 1952 in Leavenworth, Kansas, he married Peggy J. Minnis, the love of his life, who passed away on August 30, 2010.
He is survived by three children: Gary Lee Marks (Peninah), Debra Lynn Marks Newman (Alvin), and Curtis Alan Marks, Sr. (April); three grandchildren: Quincy, Curtis Jr., and Eric; two great grandchildren: Janell and Tehya; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Leroy graduated from Leavenworth Sr. High School; attended the University of Kansas; was a Master Sergeant in the US Air Force, retired March 31, 1972; and retired from the Accounting Section at the VA in March 1995.
Leroy was an avid sports fan. He played basketball and baseball in his younger years and never missed watching his two favorite teams – KC Chiefs and KU Jayhawks – on television. Leroy was a professed Christian who loved the Lord and prayed often. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at 9:00am, at Davis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.
