Martha Lou Flanders, 72 of Kansas City, Kansas passed away December 12th, 2013 at Providence Medical Center.
Martha was born October 1st, 1941 in Leavenworth, Kansas the daughter of Marion L. and Martha L. (Schoenherr) Carter.
Martha grew up in Bain City and graduated from Leavenworth High School. She worked for over 30 years as a seamstress for the Veterans Administration. She also worked at Kmart, Pizza Hut Call Center, and Piper Tarp. In her early years Martha loved raising and showing horses. She appeared in the American Royal Parade and attended and traveled the rodeo barrel racing circuit, plus enjoyed showing and raising doberman dogs. She was an avid CB Radio operator and went by the name, “Super Chicken”. She loved crocheting and making clothes for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Daniel and his wife Nicole of Kansas City, Kansas, three grandchildren, Paige, Adelaide, and Riley.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, one sister, Marjorie Stephens (LHS Class of 1953), and two brothers.
Memorial Services will be 6:00 PM, December 18th, 2013 at Belden Larkin Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. A dinner and celebration of Martha's life will immediately follow the services at Immanuel Baptist Church, 8822 Parallel Pkwy, Kansas City, KS
