Francie Spinner Brightwell - LHS Class of 1955

Frances L. “Francie” Brightwell, 79, passed away peacefully at her home on June 1, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born October 10, 1937, in Leavenworth, Kansas, the daughter of Jack and Frances Spinner. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Gerald “Jerry” Brightwell, and their son Charles W. “Billy” Brightwell.
Francie is survived by her children Connie (Fred) Schmeckel, Michael (Karin) Brightwell; her beloved grandsons Fred Schmeckel III, David (Ashley) Brightwell and Joseph Brightwell. Her new great-granddaughter, Keegan Brightwell, was a joy in her life. She was part of a large family that includes many wonderful sisters, brother, nieces and nephews.
Francie was a Girl Scout leader at St. Joseph School for many years. She sold real restate and held her Kansas Brokers license. She taught Wilton Cake decorating classes and decorated many local wedding cakes. In 1986, she and husband Albert opened Albert’s & Son, Inc., a Heating and Air Conditioning business.
At her request, there will be a private burial ceremony at the Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the P.A.L.S. (Pets and Loving Seniors) program, part of the Leavenworth Council on Aging, 1830 S. Broadway, Leavenworth, KS 66048.
