Gloria, the daughter of Omar and Edna Huey, was born in Lawrence, Kansas on August 20, 1932.
She grew up in Lawrence and Lansing, Kansas, graduating as valedictorian from Lansing High School. High school is where Gloria met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Henshaw. They were married for 60 years when he died in 2011.
Gloria worked as a budget analyst for the Corps of Engineers and as a piano teacher, where she shared her love of music with many students over the decades.
Gloria and Bob shared a love of animals, taking in numerous dogs and cats over their years together, and ensuring the wildlife passing through their yard in Kansas City, KS was well-fed.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Robin Henshaw and Donn Hess, and grandson, Owen Hess, who was the apple of his Grandma’s eye. Gloria is also survived by her beloved brother, Mike Huey, and his wife Sandy, their children, Christine, Mike and Mark, spouses and grandchildren.
The family sends their gratitude to the caregivers at Bishop Spencer Place and Saint Luke’s Hospice. Their devotion, laughter and care helped Gloria enjoy her days and gave our family peace of mind.
There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Robert "Bob" Henshaw, 83, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away December 11, 2011.
Bob attended school in Lansing and grew up in the Leavenworth area where he met his wife of 60 years Gloria (Huey) Henshaw. Bob served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for 40 years as a facilities manager at Inland Cold Storage in Kansas City, Kansas.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughter Robin Henshaw; son-in-law Donn Hess; grandson Owen brother John Henshaw; sister Kate Price; brother–in-law Michael Huey and wife Sandy; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was an animal lover, active in his church, and will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee from. The funeral service will be 11 am, Thursday, December 15, 2011, at Hope Lutheran Church, 6308 Quivira Road, Shawnee, Kansas, followed by burial in Leavenworth National Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Hope Lutheran Church organ fund or to Animal Haven.
