Edward Daryle Wittmis of Denton, Texas, passed from his earthly home on December 10, 2018.
He was born on March 25, 1934 in Leavenworth, Kansas, to Edward Johann Theodore Wittmis and Melissa Pearl (Rankin) Wittmis. He married Alice Jean Hill on April 17, 1954 in Weston, Missouri.
Ed is survived by his wife Alice Jean (Hill) Wittmis, his children Michael Daryle Wittmis (Julie), Mitchell David Wittmis and Patricia Gail Roessler (Jimmy), seven grandchildren, Jonathan (Brittany), Thomas (Rebecca), Jennifer (Trevor), Kristen, Justin (Lindsey), Jessica (Jacob), Lauren (Gabe), five great grandchildren, Elisabeth, Axel, Hudson, Bryson, Landrie. He is also survived by numerous unofficial adopted children.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Dorothy Chambers (LHS Class of 1945) and Helen Rankin.
Ed enjoyed woodworking and was an avid bowler with numerous awards. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and National Guard. He was a flour miller for Bay State Milling in Leavenworth. Ed was the head custodian at Hodge Elementary School where he was affectionately called Mr. Ed by the students and staff.
The family would like to thank all his caretakers at Medical City of Denton, Texas and Pilot Point Care of Pilot Point, Texas for all they did for Ed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 2 p.m., at DeBerry Funeral Chapel in Denton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ed's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
