Ted Itinger Rea, 79, of Leavenworth, Kansas passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019. He was born October 13, 1939 in Horton, Kansas the son of John C. and Luella Rea. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother J.C. and sister Marilyn. Ted was raised in Leavenworth, Kansas. In his early days Ted enjoyed Boy Scouts where he earned status as an Eagle Scout. Ted was employed at Hallmark Cards for 25 years. Ted's journey through life was shared by his wife of 58 years, Patricia (Weber) Rea (LHS Class of 1960). Together they enjoyed the many blessings of a happy marriage; Ted's best friend in life was Patricia and every day of their life together they demonstrated their true love and commitment to each other. His sons brought much joy and pride to his life.
Ted was a family man who lived each day demonstrating high character, morals and a commitment to his wife, sons, grandchildren and his faith in God. He led his family and taught them commitment, resolve, perseverance, work ethic, self-discipline and determination. He will be sadly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
During Ted's retirement years he enjoyed becoming an avid cyclist, expert gardener, skilled wood worker/furniture builder and fly fisherman.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, sons Troy, John, (spouse) Shonda, Ted (spouse) Katie, eleven grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren all from the area.
Rosary will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday , March 5, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 306 North Broadway Street, Leavenworth, KS 66048, followed by a visitation.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30 am Tuesday March 5 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Lansing, KS.
In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorial contributions to: St. Joseph church, restoration of the stained glass windows.
