Allen William Kisker, 79, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 at home. Allen was born July 13, 1939 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Edward William and Bertha Emilia Marie (Lutte) Kisker.
He attended Stillings School, grades first through eighth and West Platte R-II grades nine through 12. A graduate of the class of 1957 he was a good student earning spelling and attendance awards. He was a member of the High School Track Team, Student Council, Lettered in FFA and his senior year joined the Basketball Team.
A devoted lifelong member of St John’s Lutheran Church in Farley, Missouri, Allen held many offices throughout the years. He was the great-grandson of charter member, Johann Heinrick Kisker. He can also trace his lineage through his mother’s family to John Niemann, another of the original 13 members of St John’s. He was baptized on August 6, 1939 and received his confirmation on May 10, 1953 and was active in Walther League, AAL and Thrivent. His confirmation verse Psalm 37:4 “Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart” is most fitting as he was a joyful giver and hard worker.
Allen faithfully served his country for six years during the Vietnam Conflict as an Army Medical Specialist 4 with the 864th Medical Company earning a Marksmanship badge.
Allen is a Platte County native and lifelong resident who’s occupation was farming. He shared his love and knowledge of the land and community by serving as past President of the Board of Supervisors for the Farley-Beverly Drainage District. He maintained the levees in the surrounding area until his death. He was also a member of the Leavenworth County Coop.
Together with his brother, Edward Kisker, he received the MO Bankers Award for Achievement & Progress in Farm Management.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Edward H. Kisker and Kenneth F. Kisker Sr and brothers-in-law, Carl Main and Rodney Oberhelman.
He is survived by sisters, Esther Keseman and husband, Charles, Lorene Main, Mae Oberhelman, sisters-in-law, June Kisker and Sandra Kisker, along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and 2 great-great nephews.
“Aw shucks that was nothing” was Allen’s common response as he shied away from compliments or thanks.
Ephesians 4:2 “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love” truly characterizes the Christian man, Allen Kisker, loved by many as a brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
A quiet man of reverence, not wanting to burden others and avoid a spectacle, Allen’s wishes for no Visitation or Memorial Service will be honored. Should friends or family desire, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
