John Stucker - LHS Class of 1955

John D. Stucker, 65, of Leavenworth, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at his home. He was born Nov. 5, 1937, in Leavenworth, the son of Howard A. and Mary C. English Stucker.
He married Jane M. Miller on Nov. 5, 1955, at St. Joseph Church in Leavenworth. She survives at the home.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and then began a career in electronics and computer processing at Fort Leavenworth. He was a member of the St. Joseph Church and the St. Joseph Church Choir for many years. He achieved the level of Eagle Scout as a youngster and worked with Scouting for 25 years as an adult. He was active in the Barbershop Singing Chorus in both Leavenworth and Kansas City. He was on the judging team for many years and served on several international panels. He was bestowed the level of Judge Emeritus by the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A., the highest honor they can bestow.


Other survivors include two sons, David L. Stucker, Irmo, S.C., and Matthew D. Stucker, Larned; two grandchildren, Jackie and Eliza; one step-granddaughter, Kelda; two step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Maryann Stucker McAfee (LHS Class of 1954), Leavenworth. He was preceded in death by one stepsister, Violet Grote.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church with the Rev. David McEvoy, O. Carm., celebrating. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home with a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. and a parish prayer vigil at 7 p.m.
