William M. “Bill” Holmes III, 73, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006. He had been in failing health for a few months, and a resident of the Medicalodge since Oct. 11, 2006.William, the son of William M. Holmes Jr., and Lucille Nash Holmes, was born in Leavenworth on July 30, 1933. He attended local schools, graduated from Leavenworth Senior High, and served three years in the U.S.M.C. He later worked with his parents in the operation of Holmes & Son Funeral Home.
He never married. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and only sister, Mary M. Holmes Murray (LHS Class of 1952). He is survived by a niece in Canada, two nephews in California, and cousins.
No visitation. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
