I have been married (Linda) for almost 38 years and have a son, daughter and two grandsons, all of whom attended or attend Leavenworth Public Schools.
I graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1958 and from Emporia State University in 1962, and then served as a Naval Aviator for five years between July 1962 and June 1967.
After a year spent in graduate school at Emporia State, I began teaching at Leavenworth High School in the fall of 1968. I taught primarily mathematics until I moved to West Junior High in 1971 as part-time math teacher and part-time vice-principal.
I then moved back to Leavenworth High School in the fall of 1974 as vice-principal and sometimes athletic director. I served at LHS until the summer of 1986.
In the fall of 1986, I left the Leavenworth Public Schools for the Kansas City, Kansas public schools and was there for four years until moving to the Piper school district in the fall of 1990.
The last 16 years of my career were spent at Piper USD 203, beginning as business manager and retiring in July of 2006 after four years as Superintendent of Schools.
I am now retired after 38 years of serving in the field of education and enjoy very much serving as one of the USD 453 board members.
