Babs' Bulletin

FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER - 2008

TO: CLASSMATES AND SPOUSES OF THE LHS CLASS OF 1952

2008 is well on its way ... resolutions have been made and already broken (what was mine anyway?)...we are complaining about the cold and wishing for spring ... television is full of political news and ads ...by the end of the year a new president will have been elected. . .the days, weeks and years seem to go by so quickly.
In the last newsletter I asked if there is an interest in another reunion. I have received all positive responses.
Ty Tyler suggests one sooner rather than later (The Old Man suggests that most of us have more "sooners" than "laters" left). Ty, sends his thoughts:
Reunion Reflections
The last time I wrote about reflections on our lives
I talked about how some things slip away
But the good things that surround us
Keep us keeping on.
Five years later, I find it's more of both
Almost every day, through a song or a TV program
Or a book or a movie
Part of them brings a catch in my heart or a fleeting tear
Not sadness really, just the perfect memory
Of being there exactly as it was.
It is almost never really bad
Just a ghostly presence
Right then, right now.
A surprise!
New ideas come in purer form
Solid, useful, free of doubt
A garden, already in bloom
Without the labor of getting it there.
I hope we all can share these shining moments
We've worked hard to get here
Why not share in the rich rewards?
Ty Tyler, 2007

Class Notes and Highlights:
Joane Manney Wyrick planned a cruise to the Panama Canal in December with a friend living at Twin Oaks, the retirement community where she lives. Her friend had to cancel due to health problems. That did not deter Joane: she struck out on her own and had a wonderful time.
• Speaking of cruises, Albert and I will celebrate our 55th wedding anniversary in June by going on a tour/cruise to Alaska. My sister and her husband, Gail and Phil Klotz, celebrate their 55th in July and will be coming with us.
• Peggy, Jim's Oliver's wife, put together an address book for those attending the reunion. She did a wonderful job. Thanks, Peggy! Jim and Peggy booked an adventure trip last November to Singapore, Bangkok and Bali.
Robert Schonherr is faithful to write and thanks us for the newsletter. He is still living at the VA in Washington, D.C.
• Thanks to the following classmates for their contributions to the class treasury: George Berg and Don Beymer.
• Our good friend, Teddy Gordon Adams, passed away October 23, 2007 (see obituary below). Teddy and her husband attended the reunion last September and called after the event to say what a good time they had.
• Our next class dinner will be on Friday, March 14, 2008, at the Leavenworth Country Club. Social Hour will be 6:00 PM, with dinner at 7:00 PM. Mark your calendar.
