David Edmonds - Platte City HS Class of 1956

David Eugene Edmonds, 71, of rural Leavenworth, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at his residence.
Mr. Edmonds was born Feb. 8, 1937, in Pettis County, Mo., the son of Ashby F. Edmonds II and Gertrude Genevieve Wallace.
He attended schools in Hampton, Mo., through the eighth grade, and graduated from Platte City High School in 1956.
He married Kay White (LHS Class of 1956) in 1956. To this union, five children were born.
Mr. Edmonds was employed with Union Pacific Railroad for more than 36 years. He was a train dispatcher for many years, retiring in 1981.
Mr. Edmonds was a member of the Eagles, Masonic Lodge No. 10 and Elm Grove Baptist Church in Platte County, Mo.
He enjoyed all sports and was very active in high school with the basketball and football teams. He often had management roles with these teams.
Survivors include four daughters, Deborah Sheets and her husband Larry of Lansing, Barbara Munsterman and her husband Newton of Leavenworth, Susan Burns of Lansing and Stephanie Sulzen of Lenexa; one son, David “Rick” Edmonds and his wife Jeannine of Leavenworth; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; three brothers, Ashby Edmonds III and his wife Shirley of Kansas City, Mo., Kenneth Edmonds and his wife Joy of Springfield, Mo., and Richard Edmonds of Springfield, Mo.; three sisters, Ethel “Reva” Malotte of Gladstone, Mo., Evelyn Collie and her husband Austin of Oklahoma and Janice Carmichael of Warsaw, Mo.; and one sister-in-law, Sally Edmonds of Springfield, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ruby Edmonds; two brothers, Gus and Lewis Edmonds; and one brother-in-law, Myron Malotte.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at Belden-Larkin Funeral Home, 707 S. Sixth St.
