Jerry Ruebhausen - LHS Class of 1959

Jerry Ruebhausen, 68, of Leavenworth, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.
He was born May 15, 1941 in Granite City, Illinois to Otto and Dorothy (Buchannon) Ruebhausen, Sr.

On November 26, 1966 he married Patty L. Downey at St. Joseph Church in Leavenworth.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Patty; his daughter, Stacy L. (Greg) Ballard of Leavenworth; his grandchildren, Ryan and Lilly Ballard; his brother Otto Ruebhausen, Jr.(LHS Class of 1952); his sister, Shirley Ruebhausen (LHS Class of 1952); and many other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents & one brother.
He was president of Builders Foundation Company where he worked for 36 years. This family business was very prominent in residential foundations in home building in Leavenworth and the surrounding areas. He graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1959 and attended Central Technical Institute, Kansas City, Missouri. He served in the Army Reserve for 6 years.
Jerry was an avid KU basketball fan. He loved walking his dogs and enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed coaching his daughter, Stacy, in track and field. He also enjoyed reading and going to the library daily. He was a devout Christian and loved Bible prophecy and discussions in the Biblical field.
The Rev. David McEvoy will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mount Muncie Cemetery.

  1. My father was the best dad an only child could ask for. He instilled values in me that will go on to my children and the many generations ahead. I miss him dearly and can't seem to forget his wonderful love and friendship to us all.
