Virginia Lee Holloway, daughter of the late Roy and Gertrude Horton, passed away September 26, 2009. She was born on July 26, 1935 in Leavenworth, Kansas and graduated from Leavenworth Senior High School in 1953.
In 1957, she married Thomas C. Holloway, Sr. and moved to Junction City, Kansas. The union was blessed with three children. While in Junction City, she was very active in the Pentecostal Church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and head of the Usher Board. She was also a member of the Northwestern District Council Usher Board for many years. After moving to Parkville, MO in 1992, she attended Greater Pentecostal Temple in Kansas City, KS where she was appointed head of the Usher Board.
She leaves to mourn; husband, Thomas C. Holloway, Sr.; two children, Cornelia R. Keesee (Spencer) of Parkville, MO and John R. Hollowayof Mission, KS; two grandchildren, Tyler S. and Morgan A. Kessee, both of Parkville, MO; two sisters, Thelma Lechter of Salina, KS and Janie Davis (Robert) of Leavenworth, KS and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Thomas C. Holloway, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the Pentecostal Church of Leavenworth with Elder Kenneth Neal officiating. A committal service will take place at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Leavenworth National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church.
