George Everett - LHS Class of 1953

George E. Everett, Lansing, KS passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Country Care in Easton, KS. George was born July 28, 1933 in Leavenworth, KS the son of Hayes and Ella (Blockberger) Everett. On October 6, 1956, in Leavenworth, he married Betty Jo Hill. She preceded him in death on April 11, 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary Sanderson and Nellie Land (LHS Class of 1956) and two brothers, Eldon and LeRoy Everett.
He is survived by his daughter, Sheryl Lynn Mayes and husband Larry, Leavenworth, KS and his son James Everett and wife Tina, Leavenworth, KS, three brothers, Richard Everett (LHS Class of 1966) and John Everett (LHS  Class of 1974), Leavenworth, KS and Hayes Everett, Jr., Joplin, MO, two sisters, Ella Treat and Pat Blount (LHS Class of 1965) both of Leavenworth, KS, seven grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
George graduated from Leavenworth High School and enter into the United States Army September 7, 1953 to December 6, 1955, serving in the Korean War. After his military service he worked for the Leavenworth Foundary till 1959, he then worked as a cook at Munson Army Hospital, Ft. Leavenworth, KS, retiring in 1988.
He was Union Steward for the American Federation of Government Employees, Ft. Leavenworth, KS.
He was a devoted father and uncle, always there to help his family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held 2 P.M Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in the Mt. Muncie Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
