She was born in Leavenworth on March 16, 1932, the daughter of Daniel and Violet (Hicks) Cooley.
She was a resident of Leavenworth most of her life.
She retired as a nurse from the David Dwight Eisenhower Medical Center on March 19, 1994.
She is survived by two daughters, Dayle (David) Yantzi and Sandra (Ralph) Kloster of Platte City, Mo.; one son, Bruce (Frances) Smock, Leavenworth, a sister, Edith (Don) Bachtel (LHS Class of 1943), son-in-law, Mike Guthrie, Ottawa, Kan., 12 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Janice (Smock) Guthrie, one sister, Minnie Mae (Cooley) Upchurch (LHS Class of 1948), brothers, Robert Cooley, Daniel W. Cooley, Charles Cooley (LHS Class of 1952).
She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, June 12 at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family suggests Memorials be given to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA, 02210.
