Lawrence “Worry” Moppin

Lawrence “Worry” Moppin, 74, passed away on June 9, 2010 at his home in Leavenworth, Kansas.  
Worry was born to Florence Jordan and Matthew Moppin on December 6, 1935 in East Leavenworth, Missouri.
At the age of sixteen he began working at the Missouri Valley Steel Shipyards. He worked for the shipyards for over thirty years where he was a member of the Boiler Makers and then became employed by LEXECO where he was a member of Mo-Kan Teamsters Union, he retired in 1997. 
On April 28, 1956 he married Carrie M. Brune (LHS Class of 1955). 
Worry enjoyed working with his hands creating metal sculptures out of old tools and miscellaneous items and spending time with his grandchildren.  
He is preceded in death by his wife Carrie, his parents, one sister, Betty Poff (LHS Class of 1948); three brothers, John (Buster); Warren (Elmer) and Larry (Bubbles) Moppin.  
Worry is survived by two sons, Mike and Karla of Orlando, Florida; Tom and wife Mary Kay of Weston, Missouri; two daughters, Judy and husband Gary Curtis of Lone Jack, Missouri; Joan and husband Steve Johnston of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and Mary Jo Moppin, companion.  
Visitation will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel, 6th and Shawnee, Leavenworth, Kansas. on Monday, June 14 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.  No graveside services, Cremation.  In lieu of flowers contribution’s can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the American Cancer Society.


Carrie Brune Moppin was born July 26, 1937 and died April 26, 2003 in Leavenworth, Kansas.  She was a wife, mother, grandmother and a retired secretary.
