Betty Jean Freeman, 70, of Leavenworth, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, at Medicalodge of Leavenworth. She was born Feb. 3, 1940, in Lawrence the daughter of Donald and Maxine Louise (Rowland) Schroyer.
She is survived by a son, M. Todd Freeman of Leavenworth; two grandsons, Gunnar Freeman and Joshua Conard; her mother, Maxine Schroyer; two siblings, Robert R. (Marilyn) Schroyer (LHS Class of 1961) of Lansing and Donna L. (John) Scanlon (LHS Class of 1967) of Lansing; and many cousins.
Betty was preceded in death by a son, Robert (Robby) Freeman and her father.
She worked as a contracting agent at Fort Leavenworth for many years until she retired.
Betty was a member of Sweet Adeline’s. She loved watching her grandson in sports. She always cheered for the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. after the visitation with Rev. Gary Harms as celebrant. Cremation will follow the service. Inurnment will be at a later date at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to American Diabetes Association.
