Doris was born on February 20, 1940 in Leavenworth, the daughter of Benjamin Phipps and Laura (Phillips) Phipps Reynolds. She was a lifelong resident of Leavenworth, having graduated from Leavenworth High in 1959. She was united in marriage to C. Raymond Johnson on June 4, 1960 in Modesto, CA. She lived in various cities while her husband was in the service.
Doris was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her husband and two sons. She also loved children, and owned Granny's Playhouse Daycare for 10 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she had formerly served as superintendent of Sunday Schools and financial secretary. She was also a member of Ladies Eagles Auxiliary Aerie #55 where she was a past president.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband Raymond of the home; her sons Lyndon Ray and Scott Allen Johnson; her grandchildren Scott, Benjamin, Kerri, Amanda, Rebecca and Jessica; her great grandchildren Brendan and Elizabeth; and her sister Barbara Benge (LHS - Class of 1959).
Funeral services will be 10:00 am on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the Belden-Larkin Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Mount Muncie Cemetery Mausoleum.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
