Leonard Odell Berry was born November 29, 1939 in Leavenworth, Kansas. He was called home Monday morning at 3:30 A.M. at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
Leonard was baptized at an early age at Pentecostal Church of the Apostolic and was an active member in the church radio choir and also a dedicated member and a financial supporter of the church.
He worked for Collard Chevrolet for five years and worked at the V.A. as a cook. He also worked at the Leavenworth Foundry and dedicated countless hours for the elderly delivering meals on wheels voluntarily.
He married Charolette Harvey (LHS Class of 1959) June 18, 1960.
Leonard leaves behind two sons, Bryan Berry, John Berry, one daughter, Debra Hodges, two daughter in laws, Angela Berry and Sherri Berry and one son in law, Robert Hodges, three sisters, Georgeanna Scott (LHS Class of 1956) , Rev. Joyce Gayden (LHS Class of 1962), and Christine May and brother in laws, Frances Scott and Clifford May, five grandchildren Bryce and Brittany Berry, Christian and Kiana Hodges and Brieana Berry, two great grandchildren, Breyden and Brendyn Berry and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the Pentecostal Church, 1705 5th Ave, with a funeral service at 11 A.M. Thursday at the church.
Burial will follow in the Mt. Muncie Cemetery.
The Davis Funeral Chapel is entrusted to the funeral arrangements.
