Calvin Chambers, 82, of Leavenworth, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013, at his home.Calvin was born on July 3, 1930, in Leavenworth, the son of Albert Sr. and Hattie Chambers. On June 25, 1950, he married Joanne Swearingen (LHS Class of 1950) in Leavenworth. She survives him.
He is also survived by a son, Bruce Chambers, Alma, KS; a daughter Peggy (Michael) Caltabiano, Fredericksburg, VA; one granddaughter, Jennifer Herbek; four grandsons, Ryan Caltabiano, Todd, Eric and Chad Chambers; and four great grandchildren.
Calvin served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and was retired from the US Penitentiary, Leavenworth. He was a member of the Pilgrim Community Church.
Cremation is being handled by the Davis Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 9, 2013, beginning at 1 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following at 2 p.m. Both will be held at the Davis Funeral Chapel.
