J. C. McCoy, 75, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away January 8, 2013. J.C. was born January 20, 1937, in Bethany, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lyle and Ivy McCoy of Leavenworth, KS. He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Tandy McCoy (LHS Class of 1956), of the home; son Jay McCoy (Anita); daughter Pam McCoy Bean (Paul); granddaughters, Cara McCoy Polk (James) and Kelsey McCoy; brother, Charles McCoy (Shirley); six nieces and nephews.
He grew up in Leavenworth and graduated from the University of Kansas School of Engineering in 1960. He retired from Bendix/Honeywell in 1989 after 29 years of service. He then worked at Challenge-RMF for 8 years. He served in the Naval Reserves.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mid-America Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 6811 Shawnee Mission Parkway, Ste 202, Cloverleaf Bldg. 1, Shawnee Mission, KS 66201 or First Baptist Church Stilwell.
