Orval Morandy - LHS Class of 1955

Orval Edward Morandy, 77, of Leavenworth passed peacefully at Cushing Memorial Hospital on Monday September 1, 2014 with his family at his bedside.
He was born on January 11, 1937, the son of John Edward and 
Marie Francis Morandy of Leavenworth.
Orval married the late Beverly J. Forpahl (LHS Class of 1955) on March 11, 1956 in Hernando, Mississippi.
They shared five children; Pamela J. Prusha and her husband Larry of Seymour, Iowa; Laurie Linn Langston and her husband Dave of Cascade, Colo., Donna M. Burge and her husband Kenneth, Jr. of Leavenworth: Janet K. Langley and her husband Steve of Chandler, Ariz. and Michael E. Morandy of Leavenworth.
Orval joined the Navy in 1955 where he served four years.  Following his Navy service, in 1960 he became employed at Fort 
Leavenworth until he embarked on his career with Hallmark Cards. He retired from Hallmark Cards in 1982.
Orval enjoyed repairing and collecting Lionel Trains along with coin, gun, and stamp collecting.
Orval is also survived by his sister, Karen K. Sanderson (LHS Class of 1969) of McClouth, Kansas as well as ten grandchildren: John Elliott, Missy Foster, Erin Wallace, Jenna Langston, Kenneth Burge, III, Matthew Burge, Jake Langley, Sarah Langley, Nicole Morandy, Caleb Morandy, and five beautiful great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held for family-and friends at Sunset Memory Gardens, Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 10 a.m.
Memorials in his name may be directed to VA Hospital, Leavenworth 
Kansas or a charity of your choice.
