George Gadow - LHS Class of 1957

George Henry Gadow, 75, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away; August 20, 2015, after a brief struggle with leukemia.
After high school, George entered the Army and was stationed at S.H.A.P.E. Allied Headquarters in Paris, France. He married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth “Liz” Shore (LHS Class of 1957). Following his service in the Army, he enrolled in Pittsburg State University where he was part of the 1961 National Championship football team. He graduated with a degree in Engineering Technology emphasizing Machine Design and Drafting in 1964. He spent his 47-year career at Dickey Clay Mfg., which later became Mission Clay Products in Pittsburg, KS. After retirement he moved back to his boyhood home in Leavenworth, KS. George was very active over his life as an avid hunter, fisherman, PADI scuba diving instructor, runner, triathlete, and golfer. He never sat still.
Visitation will be held August 24, 2015 from 9:30-11:30 a.m., at Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee, Leavenworth, KS with a memorial service following at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be immediately following at Mt. Cavalry cemetery.
George is survived by his wife, Liz, of 57 years, sons Scott (Danielle) and Mitchell (Tay), and five grandchildren.
