Nancy Ann Cook Oberforcher, passed away in her home, surrounded by loved ones on Dec. 10, 2020. A lifelong Catholic and Leavenworth, Kansas resident, she was born January 10, 1936, to Edward Cook Sr. and Florence Miller Cook.
She graduated from Immaculata High School in 1956 and married Anthony (Tony) Oberforcher that same year.
Nancy had a 33-year long career working as a Personnel Clerk in the Office of the Adjutant General at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. She loved working for the Catholic School System supporting the Greenway Auction fundraiser, volunteering, soliciting donations and anything else to help promote and foster Catholic education.
If you were to have asked Nancy what she enjoyed the most, she would say cooking for anyone that was hungry and going to the casino with her daughter Nancy. She always tried to help others by volunteering or donating. She made sure her kids and grandkids were comfortable and happy with a smile and full belly. Her spirit truly shined at Christmas, her favorite time of the year. A joy that would brighten anyone’s heart.
Her strong faith in God, her altruistic nature, and love for her children and grandchildren is what grounded her in life. It’s a love that will be missed by everyone she met.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Edward Cook Jr. and a grandchild, Jessica.
She is survived by her four children, Nancy Boatright, Mark Oberforcher (Leavenworth), Susan Sheffield (Kansas City, Missouri), Lynn Nemeth (Gilbert, Arizona); a brother Richard Cook (Leavenworth); and grandchildren Tony and Sarah Boatright, Kyle Bailey, Erica Nemeth, Nicole Sheffield, Kayla Oberforcher and great-grandchild, Freyja Shafer; the true loves of her life!
Her wings were ready, our hearts were not.. (unknown)
