Surrounded by her family, and after a hard-fought battle with illness, Nadine A. Solombrino, age 75, was welcomed to her heavenly home on January 17, 2014. Nadine was born June 26, 1938 in Leavenworth, Kan., to Fred and Eletha Walton. She attended Sumner Elementary School and graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1956. Nadine worked for Hallmark Cards and retired after over 20 years. She then worked at the YMCA until she became ill.
Nadine was a lifelong member of the Sunflower Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir and was a dedicated servant of the Lord. Nadine loved her church and was always willing to help out in any way she could.
Nadine leaves to cherish her memory, her loving mother Eletha Wilson (Leavenworth); her youngest sister Shirley Miller (LHS Class of 1958) (Lansing); daughters Nathalie Walton, Portland Ward and DuQuan Walton-Darthard (LeMarcy); a son Dwayne Walton; grandchildren Kenisha, Corey, Todd (Malika), Tamiel, Demetrice, Trealvon (Angela) and Dwayne Jr; 19 great-grandchildren who she loved dearly and a nephew Orlando Allen; also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Nadine was preceded in death by her father Fred Walton; her twin sister Fredine Allen (LHS Class of 1956); three sons (Calvin, Kirk and Keith Walton) and her loving "grand-dog" Rocko.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 24, 2014, 11 a.m. at Sunflower Missionary Baptist Church, 1708 5th Ave. Leavenworth, Kan. Condolences may be sent to www.davisfuneralchapelinc.com
