Sally Choice Graham - LHS Class of 1955

Sally Sue Choice Graham, 78, of Leavenworth, Kansas, died peacefully at her home on April 7, 2016, following a lengthy illness. She was born September 30, 1937, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of William Donald and Mary Jane (Oehler) Choice. The family moved to Leavenworth when Sally was a year old.
Sally graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1955 and Emporia State Teachers College in 1959, where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. She married John Weir Graham on August 15, 1959, in Leavenworth, and the couple moved to Belton, Mo., where she taught speech and drama. The family moved to Overland Park, Kan., and then to Ozark, Mo., where Sally kept and rode horses. After moving back to Leavenworth in 1978, She became an avid supporter of the downtown business community. She first operated FOR KIDS ONLY children's shop and then SALLY'S CHOICES gift shop, retiring in 2012. Sally was very active in the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce, serving as its president in 1985. She received the Chamber's Athena Award in 1993. She was especially active in the women's branch of the Chamber and in the Mainstreet Association.
A life long Presbyterian, Sally was an ordained Elder and Deacon at First Presbyterian Church, Leavenworth. She was a member of Chapter EO of P.E.O. and the Captain Jesse Chapter of DAR. She was active in the Whittier Book Club, even preparing a book review at the time of her death. She continued to enjoy playing tennis and ushering at the Missouri Repertory Theatre.
She is survived by her son, John Graham, Leavenworth; her daughter Lisa Graham, Lawrence; her grandson, Steven Ringel, Ft. Collins, Colo.; her granddaughter and husband, Madeline and Seth Gray, Leavenworth; her sister and husband, Donna (LHS Class of 1957) and Ross Clopton, Amarillo, Texas; her sister and husband, Paula (LHS Class of 1968) and Charles Timmons, Lawrence; and a host of loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who will miss her.
She was predeceased by her husband, John; her sister, Janie Choice Cavitt (LHS Class of 1965); and her parents, Don and Mary Jane Choice.
A memorial service will be at First Presbyterian Church, Monday, April 11, 2016, at 2 p.m., the Rev. Tim Soule officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to First Presbyterian Church, Leavenworth.
