James D. “Bud” Hegarty, 86, of Leavenworth, died, Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, at Twin Oaks, after a long illness. He was born Oct. 17, 1932, in Leavenworth, the son of James and Dorothy (Christ) Hegarty.
He graduated from Immaculata High School in 1950 and the Kansas City School of Watchmaking in 1952.
Bud was a Veteran of the Korean War. He was employed at Trans World Airlines for 41 years.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pat; his three children, James (Patty) Hegarty, Anne (Craig) Schmidling and David (Sarah) Hegarty; four grandchildren, Maura, Connor, Megan and Daniel.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents.
He was an avid golfer and traveled the world until illness limited his activites.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home, with Rev. William McEvoy as celebrant. Memorials are suggested to Safe Haven Hope House or the American Cancer Society.
