Jim Benge - LHS Class of 1952

James F. Benge, 71, died at his home in Springdale, Arkansas on July 15, 2004. He was born in Leavenworth, Kansas on June 11, 1933 to John Benge and Pauline Stein Benge.
He married Barbara "Bobbi" Phipps (LHS Class of 1959) on July 2, 1961.Jim retired from Southwestern Bell in 1987 and lived in Holiday Island, Arkansas until moving to Springdale.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a past member of the Knights of Columbus, Eagles and the Lions Club. 
Survivors include his wife Bobbi; one daughter, Laurie Watkins (LHS Class of 1980) of Springdale; one son, John Benge and wife Christine of Tacoma, Washington; two grandsons; two sisters, Doris Jean Biockburger (LHS Class of 1949) of Easton, Kansas, and Lois Anne Benge (LHS Class of 1964) of Leavenworth.
A visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2004, at the Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth. Friends may call after noon.
Graveside services will be at 10 am. Monday at the Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery in Leavenworth.
