Coming erection at LHS...

Local artist Michael Young showcased the clay mold he created for the Leavenworth High School's Alumni Association's Pioneer Pete Statue last week. The project took Young 12 months and now will be used to create a bronze statue, which will be debuted during Leavenworth's homecoming weekend in mid-October. The finished product will be placed at the corner of 10th Avenue and Marion Street.

The Old Man thinks that this bit of art should provide a challenge to future sudents for generations to come:

"What can we hang on it or how can we paint it?"

The Old Man asks, "How about some recognition for the pioneers who cared for and educated the pioneer children?   Not all pioneers were men."
