OCTOBER 2011 NEWSLETTER
TO: CLASSMATES AND SPOUSES OF THE LHS CLASS OF 1952






This newsletter has been delayed in order for our planning committee to get our 60th Reunion underway.  The original plan was to have the reunion September of 2012.  We are moving it up to the first weekend of May so that Joane Manney Wyrick will be able to attend. We are losing Joane, the backbone of all our planning, to Florida next June. She is moving there to be near her daughter.


CLASS OF ’52 60th REUNION: May 4, 5 & 6, 2012

Friday the 4th — 6:30 PM — Casual get together at The Café located at 1102 N 2nd. This is in the old Abernathy building south of the Missouri River Bridge. Go north on 2nd to Cheyenne and turn right (east). The Café is located in about the middle of the building. There will be a catered buffet. $10 per person, (BYOB).

Saturday the 5th — 6:30 PM --  Social Hour at the Heritage House, 109 Delaware. (BYOB) A class picture will be taken during this time.  Following will be a diner buffet: Menu: Salad, brisket, chicken, potatoes, vegetables, hot rolls, pie, coffee or tea.  $25 per person.  All meals include tax and gratuity.

Sunday the 6th — 10:00 AM -- Those interested, can meet at the new I-Hop for breakfast. We will just order from the menu. 484 N Main, Lansing, across from the Holiday Inn Express.

The walls came tumbling down! Our alma mater is being razed the owners of the building, The Methodist Church, plan to build an education building for their expanding membership. They also want to have green space for the children.  Read more >> HERE...



The Pioneer Statue was unveiled before the Homecoming game, Friday, September 23, 2011. Cindy Geiger, class of ’63 was the Master of Ceremonies. She gave a brief history of the “Pioneers" and introduced the artist, Michael Young. Those of you coming to our 60th will be able to drive by to see the statue. Class Notes:

Jim Oliver and Peggy have been traveling again. After their trip in January to Panama, Costa Rica and Nicaragua, they went to Hawaii in April and returned from a trip to Reno in June. We hope they have time in their schedule to come to Kansas for our 60th next May. Jim and Peggy continue to send $$ for our class treasury. Thank you!
