Dottie McCune Timmons - LHS Class of 1954

Dorothea Elizabeth "Dottie" McCune Timmons joined our heavenly father, Friday, March 8, 2013. She was in the presence of her husband, children, grandchildren, and sisters as she joined our holy father. Dorothea was born on Dec. 17, 1935, in Leavenworth, the daughter of Frances H. and Dorothy E. (Wilk) McCune.
She married James "Jim" Timmons (LHS Class of 1958) on March 14, 1980, in Miami, Okla. He survives her of the home. Dottie is also survived by a daughter, Tamara (Rick) Wagner; a son, Karl (Kerry) Bardroff; three step-sons, Mike Timmons, Matthew Timmons and James Timmons II; three sisters, Shirley Harries, Barbara Thomasson and Gayle Meredith; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Patricia "Patty" Powers (LHS Class of 1964); and a younger brother, Francis Henry "Buddy Boy" McCune.
Dottie was a prominent beautician and shop owner in Leavenworth for many years. She also worked on Ft. Leavenworth in accounting and administration and Leavenworth Special Education Cooperative. She was involved in the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary for 30 years, the American Legion Auxiliary for 20 years and VFW Auxiliary for 20 years. Dottie was a past president for the American Legion Auxiliary, a past 1st District President American Legion Auxiliary, Chapeau Passe' 8 and 40 Ladies Honor Society American Legion. She was a Patriot Guard member and stood flag vigil at funerals to honor veterans. Dottie was a former member of the Leavenworth National Cemetery monthly memorial service committee and a former member of the Leavenworth Catholic School Board.
She loved taking care of her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dottie enjoyed traveling, camping in the RV, dancing, picnicking, and fellowship with her friends. 
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Funeral service will begin 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorials in lieu of flowers are requested to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crossroads Hospice, or St. Jude's Children Hospital. Arrangements by R.L.
