Judy Bradley Jones - LHS Class of 1958

Our Mom is gone. 
Judy Ann Jones, 75, 112 Ottawa St., a lifelong resident of Leavenworth, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at St. Luke’s Cushing Hospital.
She was born in Leavenworth November 25, 1940, the daughter of Joe and Barbara (Theel) Bradley, who preceded her in death. She was baptized Luthern at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She attended Leavenworth Public Schools and was a graduate of Leavenworth Senior High School.
During her lifetime, Judy worked as a waitress at the Nu-Way and at Homer's Drive In. She also worked for Hallmark Cards Inc., when it was located in the old Abernathy building near the Centennial Bridge and also at the Eisenhower Road facility. She was an assistant manager for Walmart spending time in the Leavenworth, Atchison, Salina and the Kansas City, Kansas stores. She also helped establish and manage the Family Dollar Store at the corner of Broadway and Shawnee in Leavenworth. But Judy’s favorite job was when she and her husband John owned and operated Judy Ann’s Doughnuts and Coffee Shop, which was located at the corner of Broadway and Shawnee in the late 60’s and early 70’s.
She was married to John F. Jones who preceded her in death in 1994. She is survived by a daughter, Joanna (Eric) Williams of Leavenworth; two sons, Jim Jones of the home and John (Debra) Jones who lives in Kansas City, Kansas; a step daughter, Mary Jo (Jerry) Stephein, of California and a step son, Charles Jones; three grandsons, Chase, Travis and Shane Gillaspie all of Leavenworth and one granddaughter, Dawn.
She is survived by two sisters; Kathy (Joe) LeRoy of Trinity, Florida, and Barbie (Randy) Courter of Leavenworth; two brothers, Joe (Julie) Bradley, Leavenworth and Gary Bradley also of Leavenworth.
Judy enjoyed baking, she loved watching the cooking channel on TV. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting and was a past member of the Christian Women’s Club.
Judy was a kind, hard working person, who loved her family and would go out of her way to help anyone. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be 12 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.
